This is the Two-in-one jacket from Sewing for Boys by Shelly Figueroa and Karen LePage. I actually finished it a few months back and wasn't really expecting the boy to still be wearing it but thanks to our delightful English summer, we're really getting a lot of wear out of this one.
I added patch pockets rather than the welt ones in the pattern because, well, life's too short to make welt pockets*. I figured also that a two year old is probably not going to question the pocket styling, as long as it fits a small plastic turtle inside and can be used to transport a small amount of sand then all is ok with the world.
I'm pretty pleased with this as it's my first ever coat! The construction was really rather simple and I'd definitely consider making up another version for the winter. It also gets rather a lot of admiring comments when we're out and about from strangers which is always nice! Do you accept compliments gracefully on hand-made stuff and keep quiet or do you go for the 'thanks, I MADE IT' approach which inevitably draws more compliments? I usually go for the latter and then feel a bit showyoffy afterwards.
*I noticed that Sewaholic's new pattern features welt pockets. I'd be interested to see her method as she's got a brilliant way of making things look easy.

I do the latter. And here you go: oh wow, you MADE a COAT? I am so impressed!!! Way too scary for me to attempt it!
Wow, this looks amazing! I love the lining, so cute!
I quite like being given the opportunity to say 'I made it'! Feels good :)
I've never had the chance to say anything like that because I've never made clothes, but I would probably do exactly the same as you! I can't believe you R saying this is simple to put together - I would have no idea where to start, even with a pattern! It's lovely! x
Hoorah! Well done... and boy, that boy can run! x
I love this jacket, so cute! I bought an Oliver and S pattern in the winter with the intention of making my boys some tops but so far it hasn't happened! I found your blog through the Crafty Blog network, if you have time pop over to mine if you like crochet! x
Wow, he's grown! a proper little boy now! Great job on the coat! I think this year I might try to make myself one (maybe the Sewaholic one for autumn) - love the fabric you chose for the outer.
I usually will say if I've made something, but only if I get compliments on it. And then, like you, I feel like I'm showing off!
Coat is beautiful, and the model who's wearing it - well what can I say!
Spot the grandmotherly bias!
